Welcome to our blog! Here we talk about our food adventures and our cooking adventures, which sometimes goes to plan...
Our goal is to spend a maximum of £20 per person for a meal including a main, dessert and drinks and write about it! Enjoy!
So first up, La Tasca!
We stopped over at La Tasca in Canary Wharf for late lunch / early dinner. Our meal consisted of tapas, this is a few small dishes of Spanish cuisine to share, altogether we chose five tapas and dessert. While it looks small, it is actually very filling!
As our drinks we ordered the two
non-alcoholic cocktails on the menu (just one more year until we can get rid of that
non!) which was La Piña and Sunshine Mountain. La
Piña was a mix of bitter and sweet which had pineapple juice, a
splash of sugar syrup and then topped with lemon. Sunshine Mountain was a mix
of orange and cranberry juice and then topped with Ginger Ale. These two
cocktails were gorgeous and relatively cheap at only £3.20 each.
For our main course we had (from left to
right) Gambas Gabardina, Albóndigas, Tortilla Española, Chorizo and Croquetas de Manchego. This, basically, is
prawns, meatballs, omelette, sausage and cheese balls. To view more about the
meal we had and some of the other things available as a main from La
Tasca, visit this page: http://www.latasca.com/assets/downloads/2012/09/1667.pdf
Our whole meal was purchased from the Tapas to Share section.
Erin: This was my first time trying
Spanish food and Melissa has been dying to take me here for ages however the
date kept getting changed, however here we are! I didn't really know what to
expect with this meal due to hearing some reviews about it from family who
weren't too keen on it, however I gave it a go and I ended up loving it! I
can't chose a favourite from the meal as I just loved all of it!
Melissa: As a Spaniard myself it did feel good to go to a tapas bar, the atmosphere of the place is lovely and it really did make me feel at home. I enjoyed my meal too, but I have to say, there's no place like home for tapas (Erin, we need to go to Spain and eat all the food!)
As a dessert we had Dulce Placeres de La Tasca which was a
brownie, a piece of vanilla cheesecake topped with a berry compote, mini
pancakes, strawberries (our favourite fruit!), brownies, churros (because you
can't go to a Spanish restaurant and not have churros!) and a scoop of vanilla
ice cream along with chocolate dipping sauce. It was a lovely finish to our
Spanish meal!
Erin: I loved this dessert as our meal
came to the end! I think the one thing that did disappoint us with it however
was how there was how it was relatively small for a sharing platter for two
with it only having one scoop of ice cream, one brownie and one piece of
cheesecake. Also Melissa did say that the churros were smothered in
cinnamon and sugar however that is not how a normal churro is in Spain. Overall
though it was a lovely meal and I would recommend it if you want a taste of
Spain!
Melissa: For sharing platters, the dessert did disappoint, we expected a lot more but it was good seeing Erin enjoy the churros, I'm still waiting for the day a churreria appears near my house, however there is one in London...all the way in Paddington!
We had a lovely meal that came to just under £40 for the two of us.
La Tasca is a lovely restaurant that gives a real feel for Spanish
food and is a place we would recommend to all. It is a chain restaurant so you
don't just have to come to London to try it! To find your local La Tasca, visit

And I do hope you enjoy your meal!
